Japanese Supreme Craftsmanship
MATSU is manufactured in the old part of Tokyo by Tsuge Pipe, a world-renowned maker of smoking pipes.
The company was established in 1936 to manufacture cigarette cases. In the 1950's, Tsuge seized the opportunity to manufacture smoking pipes, which became popular as it became part of Douglas McArthur's signature style. Tsuge sent its craftsmen to Europe to learn the art of pipe making while establishing a worldwide network of brier wood suppliers. The now famous "Ikebana" smoking pipe is one of the fruits of this period.
Tsuge's craftsmanship continues to this day, with dimensional accuracy of 1/1000 millimeter and its unmatched hand polished finish that brings the best of the brier's grain. MATSU is produced by these same techniques nurtured over the decades.
